Lumen, I think 28ac must end with N, due to the play around "eating"

18a is one of those obscure definitions drxx mentioned earlier in the thread. There's a misprint in the first word and it involves remving an s from a word for 'rumop.

10d is a native of a US state.

Thank you muraria. My word for rump was rather more crude. And you are right - very obscure. I still can’t see 15a……

Well I got there in the end, thanks to the relevant name appearing in the extra letters. Even with all the misprints etc there's still some parsing to do. 33a and 10d still resist but I'll persevere.

'eating' in 28 has two letters removed - the remaider is' 'trimmed' both ends - and it follows an old uncle.
33a - misprint in first word, 5 letters for 'rough' follows D.
10d - misprint in last word (all caps still) - and I think 'drag' is also a wiggly creature, shortened (the twin vowel 'rock' is on the outside, before final 'n').

sorry, 10d - misprint isn't in the final word it's the penultimate acronym.

sorry again - 28 remainder is only trimmed at the end.
