Can anyone help with the wordplay in ..

27d - Dealer in bar area with case of Erdinger (6)

I think this clue is unaffected by the special instructions in the preamble. I have the definition as "dealer" and think that the final 2 letters are "case of Erdibger" but I cannot see how the first 4 come from "bar area"?

Brendan, bar means excluding, so you need to modify a five-letter word for “in

Your empathy is most welcome, brendan. Thanks. I was foolishly fixated on c being an abbreviation for the singular, when I should really have known - and would have confirmed had I bothered to check Chambers - it was for the plural.

I’m a sucker for a “lift and separate” clue, to use Mark Goodliffe’s coinage, where a natural phrase like “bar area” must be split up to solve.

“Odin's son has a mark on map to denote treasure chest (6)”
