Thanks Chrise,
It was the word for American cape that had me stumped. A new one to me.

How the heck do you parse 24a?

I found this tricky, but got there in the end

I counted a total of 8 where the whole answer was a single homophone or homonym, that's too many for my preference

Chris
I thought American cape was just US and c (abbreviation for .cape ) as shown in Chambers ?

Enjoyed this but found it a lot harder than last week. Some of the definitions seemed a bit iffy to me. Eg 26a, I think 'disposed of' is a misdirection too far! Who would ever say that in the context of the answer?! Not sure about 20a either - seems a bit loose to me, for both definitions.

Also, would not have got 3 down if I hadn't been on the lookout for the rhyming pair. Had no idea of either the definition or the parsing (thanks to others for that, and, I think, to Jono for explaining the 'group of three'). I still don't really get the definition though!

Needed anagram solver to get 24a.

14d was a case of biffing first and parsing afterwards, but it was a fair clue.

Enjoyed 25 and 17a, but I think 4d was my COD, which was also my LOI.

i looked askance at 20 too, but decided the first definition just about worked if followed by "food"

23a much in use at Old Trafford sadly. Such a shame as the weather down south is lovely. I thought this one would be a real struggle on my first reading of the clues but it came together in the end after a bit of a hold up in the SW corner. I liked 14d. Some clever clues. Happy Sunday everyone.
