Many thanks, mattrom, paul, buddy and aristo for your votes. Also to jono for hosting and for the variety of prize clips: history, literature and comedy. With our significant proportion of USA residents here I was glad to be able to use sand trap instead of bunker. Jimmygtal, I thought Laurel & Hardy was an inspired idea.

Weekend Peer Review to follow later.

nice one paul, thanks jono for hosting and clips, and darla for the vote (felt sure Leonidas - and actual Spartan - might get a like but apparently the movie 300 didn't do much for his reputation)

Well done paulh, thanks Jono for the challenge. Love Othello, my favourite Shakespeare play. Iago is a brilliant villain. Can you have a brilliant villain?

Well done all - and with Othello thrown in too! Spartan dogs, black rams, daws, goats and monkey - and many other animals besides.

I didn't mention this earlier, but it's always the first thing that comes to mind when I see the word Spartan:

And I always think of Degas.
