the only word I can fit is proud but can't see how.

Dish up Roman law twofold 6 letters The first letter is the last letter of the answer to clue 1.
I thought it may be decree but can't see how.

Proud (vain) is correct. It's pair with the heart taken out which gives pr + anagram of duo.

might be Duplex (either i am wrong or it is not a very good clue)
if it is a down clue(you should really include all info)then Dish up, could be PUD backwards(up) and Lex is Latin for law.
Duplex kinda means double.

Trevor - I guess you are going to get an extra kiss for that one.
