Paul’s revised @21 “a drink for everyone” and Buddy’s @22 “throw a party to launch” hark back to the original naval meaning of the phrase which was very neat and were in my top three.
However, for the topical cricketing reference, and the Azedish use of “one” to refer back to the earlier “ball” in the clue, the winner is Mattrom@15…
