I relented. 😄

Ignoring the modulo business and just looked for misprints. It's actually a straightforward themed crossword, at the easier end of the scale, with a neat, simple end game.

(Now I have to sort out the toolboxes).

Looking at some of the negative reactions, I wonder if it's just the theme that's unfamiliar? Just saying "there are misprints" mosses the central point: that the puzzle perfectly reflects the *actual* scorecard from a very famous match - the specific misprints don't *create* a message but have to fit with the actual scoring. And with the result - and 'almost' result - both incorporated into the grid, it really is incredibly well constructed. And I'm no great fan of cricket, but surely there's some appreciation of a novel presentation & just how neatly it all comes together? Well I enjoyed it anyway so big thanks to Eclogue!

Well, once I found what modulo 26 was all about, which didn't take long, this was a relatively straightforward solve.
I did like the idea of linking the player scores to the misprints via the modulo device so agree with cranberry boat about the novelty of the puzzle.Like others though, I thought more could have been made of the misprints. Not my favourite by any means but still enjoyable overall, thanks Eclogue.

Please can someone help me parse Englands extras in the 1st innings… I cannot find the misprint but I have my answer.

Lm22, the misprint is in the third word. Def. is the first three words. An unusual (to me) word for 'drive' after 'cricket interval'

Cheers - got there in the end. I thought it was a brilliantly constructed puzzle and the fact it’s based on an actual match and uses actual scores makes Eclogue very clever. The Modulo part, once clarified earlier in the thread, was a simple yet necessary factor I feel. I find the Inquisitor requires far fewer aids than some of the other thematic crosswords, and therefore can often be more enjoyable.

All done, save that despite trying what appear to be all permutations I can't see the misprint in "Woakes' fifth is once a good measure ?" (4). Could somebody please confirm which word contains it ?

Thank you quisling. That was the only possibility I could think of but failed to equate it with ph (or pha).
