I guessed that's what it was but can't see alchemist connection in Chambers. Also the only letter that can come after it is an H...that's not helping my endgame.

I have full grid, know the poet and have printed ODQ open in front of me, but not seeing it!

Lumen, the subject is 'described' in the verse's title - not the subject IS the title. Think of it as (2) 3, 8, (5,2,3).

We found the quotation in our 1986 ODQ which enabled us to identify all the relevant cells. However our version of OQD did not include the poem's title which we found in another book. That made the endgame very hard work after a relatively gentle gridfill! Really not sure about the poem's content in this day and age.

Bucketing down, so sat down to this and a cuppa. Ladies who bought new hats for the Garden Party at Holyrood this afternoon will be spitting nails!
