Thank you for a high class entry of clues for COVER. There was a good spread of definitions. Particularly neat was jono's #2 'He may have caught some balls', requiring knowledge of cricket terms. I also liked tyke's reference #21 to equine sexual relations: 'Stud farm to make such a charge?'. My other favourites were jono #3 'Insurance company excessively detailed' (read the small print!), aristo #24 'Get it on with head of company again' and a fine pair from mathprof #16 and #17: 'Caught paramour topless in blanket' and 'Plant left out in shade' (probably my choices for 2nd and 3rd place respectively).
Really difficult, as so often, to choose a winner but I have to select one. I was most impressed by the smooth surface of paul's #13, so it gets the nod:
Rescue missing soldiers from hiding place (5)
Well done, paul! As a prize I hope you will like this busking tour de force.
