davidpe - your first letter for 17a is incorrect. It should be R. It's a slightly different nuptial ode in 13d.

I’ve filled in the grid, but can’t parse 20d. Got the poll and its hoped-for result, but can’t relate any of it to an actress.

Put goal in front of your answer and it sounds like the name of an actress.

Aha! Maybe if I was English I might spot these homophones more easily.
