An enjoyable puzzle this week and there's one I can't quite see:-
28 Across - "Cuckoo, well onto perch?" 5 letters and I have B-R-Y, which should be BARMY, but I can't see where the perch comes into it.

Perch = Bar (I've just checked Chambers) and My is Well (My! Well!).

Thanks, Rocketman, glad I could help - and until you asked, I hadn't checked that the definition was fine, I just stuck in the answer yesterday!

I fear my efforts are not going so swimmingly, being stuck on 3.

Assistance with a couple may, possibly, get me to the remainder.

10D Yodeller adds fine touch to piece (4, 7)
S?I? W???M?N
18A Losing tie, I didn't get that secured (6)
B?H?N?

Oddly I started this plea with 7 to get, but worked out 4 whilst typing (& retyping). I do think occasionally.......

Thanks for both your answers. The "eh" in 18A had quite eluded me; as for Slim Whitman, well, I suppose that somewhere I have a vague memory I've been suppressing all these years.
In connection with yodelling there is a brilliant CD by Mary Schneider "Yodelling the Classics" although to be fair I don't think she intended it to produce as much laughter as it does.

Thanks again - I'll now wrestle with my remaining 1.

the bind is tie rather than secured, so the tense is ok

I also couldn't get that Slim Whitman one (who he?), or barmy at 28a.

19a Line of waiters in country kitchen originally passing test (4,4)
?a?i ?a??

42 Singer whose was artist abandoning lead for silver (6)
?r?e?t

18d Drop in support for unpleasant gossip (10)
Is this backbiting? Back = support, but how does biting mean drop?
