Yes difficult. I needed a wordsearch for 2d - never heard of it.
5d doesn't work - "Cockney" doesn't fully justify the modification.

chrise, maybe your first four letters are wrong for 4? Chambers gives my answer as figuratively meaning what you might have.

The LHS caused me no problem but only got a few out on the RHS.
Having looked up the answers , I can safely say that I would never have got 4a or 6d .
Is there a misprint in 8d ? If not what is kin doing?
