Is Stokes the cricketer?

20d - "gun" is 'shooter' so "drop the H(earts) to get a "dummy" (pacifier)

Haven't done 26d yet:-)

26d - I think is S(tokes" + 3 letter "stretched" + (remarkabl)E so your C will change to N

Many thanks to Ranunculus for an entertaining puzzle with some of the best and most consistent surfaces I have seen in some time. (And, yes, I missed the enormous hint and spent quite a lot of the solving time thinking it was going to be about an old department store!)
