Well that turned into a runaway quickly. Congrats to tyke. With a short word to clue, brevity won the day. As I posted earlier, there were so many good clues, I'm glad I didn't have to choose, but tyke's clue would have been on my short list. I also wrote my own clue; if you will indulge me: "Brief ad for dance (4)" Again, a short word deserves a short clue, and in tyke's case, short but sweet. So, our winner is tyke51 with:

Perform every other dance (4)

I note that with one vote for his other clue, tyke got half the votes. Well done, sir! Here are your prizes.

I don't know if high school prom is a big deal elsewhere, but in the US it surely is. But what if things go wrong?

Thanks for the challenge Darla ... good luck tomorrow! Thankfully we didn`t have `Proms` when I was at school but todays Teens all seem to enjoy them. Very chuffed to win such a well contested PR and pleased some old friends took part - hope my clue was sufficiently different to one of yours based on a similar theme Mattrom.
The minimalist approach may be something I overdo at times ... but it seemed apt on this occasion. Appreciate the votes Spike, Rosalind, Dorrien, Granama1, Paul & Chrise plus the like from Geeker!
