10a Ran in and stopped (8)
This looks like it's 'arrested' but in what sense does that mean 'ran in'?

SB, 'run in' simply means to arrest , it's in Chambers.

Thank you.
I can't unpick this one, the answer being (unless I'm wrong) 'toastmaster'.

35d In ideal way, mother embracing two sons as leader of tributes (11)

I've now got 5d, after you kindly provided the first letter from 5a, but don't like it:

Rubbed it in hands (4)

Crew, I suppose. But is that ever used as the past tense of crow, I've only ever heard 'crowed'.

Chambers gives 'crew, past tense of crow' - but I have never heard or seen anyone using it!
