From the posting guidelines issued by admin.

4. If the query relates to a Quiz, give the CORRECT TITLE OF THE QUIZ and the closing date for entries. In fairness to other entrants, only ask for help on a max of 3 questions per Quiz.

5. Remember to thank other Forum members when they have posted answers to your query, "thanks in advance" is not really sufficient.

6. Do not comment on the rights or wrongs of giving answers to ‘paid for’ Quizzes and Crosswords, such posts will be deleted as they cause heated arguments with neither side willing to see the other’s point of view

Certain members of the Forum are behaving like children in the playground, please stop it straightaway otherwise you will be banned. I run a friendly Forum and intend that it will stay that way.

Greensquares, in particular, I do not want to see comments like “what an unpleasant person you are”. This remark was totally out of order.

Can you ALL please read the Posting Guidelines and adhere to them NOW

Please, let’s get back to normal.

Sorry Norah (admin).

I just felt I was being accused of being a cheat which I most certainly am not. I have no intention of submitting my paper to the setters. For me it is an academic exercise.

I filled in the ones I knew and then the family had a go. Then friends have a go and finally I start researching on the net.

I have problems sleeping so I go online, usually about 3am, and try and track down those pesky, elusive logos.

I am afraid the person who answered, deemed my reply unacceptable and reported me. They also replied by 'telling me off' again, thereby continuing the bad feeling it left in my mind.

I apologise profusely if the comment was unacceptable but it was the way I felt at the time.

If you notice, I only asked for actual help on two questions out of a possible 64, but I mentioned the numbers of other logos (not descriptions) I was still researching.

Norah the site is called "Crossword Help Forum" which I assumed meant that we could ask for clues or even answers to questions we are finding difficult. Am I wrong in this? If yes, then I will know better in the future.

regards

Why the inverted commas, I am puzzled. I am also puzzled that if you were doing a quiz "for real" why would anyone use a site called "Crossword Help Forum". So I truthfully am not spoiling the fun for "real" quizzers. You either know it or you don't. I admit I don't hence no submission.

As you see I have sent my full reply and apology to the site members.

Hi jazzgirl,

Just a couple of points:

If you notice, I only asked for actual help on two questions out of a possible 64, but I mentioned the numbers of other logos (not descriptions) I was still researching.

I did thank Jojo and quisling who both gave me answers based on my descriptions of logos

I did not comment on the rights and wrongs I don't think. When I replied to them I hadn't checked their answers. I was just grateful for their replies.

Greensquares, let me make one thing plain. Nobody reported YOU as a person, I was sent emails saying the thread was getting fractious so I immediately read through the posts and found your comment myself.

Norah the site is called "Crossword Help Forum" which I assumed meant that we could ask for clues or even answers to questions we are finding difficult. Am I wrong in this? If yes, then I will know better in the future

You can certainly ask for clues or answers BUT not in certain threads as regards answers, the Listener in particular is one such thread where answers are never given. There are other threads dealing with the main crosswords which operate similarly but equally there are threads set up by Forum users to ask for answers to particular clues and these are often answered.

By and large, it is better to ask for hints to answers rather than the actual answers themselves until you've got the feel for how a particular thread operates.

Quizzes are different, answers are requested and given, not that everyone approves of that.

When all is said and done, this is a Crossword Help Forum and our stance on giving answers is mentioned in the Posting Guidelines.

I try and be fair to both sides but I can tell you one thing with certainty, the fence upon which I sit is very uncomfortable at times😪

PS You've mostly given the name of the Forum User to whom you are replying but you didn't in Post 15, if you would like to let me know then I will insert the name in your post.

Thanks for the explanation Norah,
Hints are better anyway as there is no real success in being given the exact answer.

Sorry but I don't really understand the last bit. I thought I had used the reply button in each time I posted.
sorry

Greensquares, the reply button “replies” to the thread BUT when the reply appears on the forum, there is no indication whatsoever as to which post you are replying to, hence it is always better to include the person’s name.

You have just stared a new thread on the same quiz. Can you please read my thread about Duplicate Threads which I will just bump to the top, we only have one thread per crossword or quiz.

I’ll repost your queries in this thread, then delete your second thread.
