I wonder why he didn't just use 'number'. What is the significance of using the hashtag symbol? I had to 'phone a friend' to get that clue, as I had no idea!

Took me ages to get 26a, thought not sure why. LOI was 5d. Thought the definition was a bit loose.

COD probably also 20a. and 9a made me smile. All in all, a lovely Everyman today.

Jono, I agree it's not a term, having studied some phonetics, but it's a fun clue! Nice middling level of difficulty today I thought.

Took me longer to finish this than yesterday’s prize - maybe it was the hour’s less sleep as I don’t think it was overly hard in retrospect. I’ve been learning a lot of world geography recently (just for fun) and this seemed heavier on that than usual too.
