Hmm fours hours in, on and off, and only three answers: 6d, 19a, 25a. Clearly not on Picaroon's wavelength either. Spotted a couple of anagrams but nothing leaping out from those so far.

Judygs, you need to think what number that letter in the alphabet represents and how that applies to sonnets

Oh, thank you for putting my out of my misery, jono – I couldn't see how the letter related to the number, doh!

Hi everyone

Started late and only got three on first read through and not even sure about one of those.

Sitting in the sun with the cat helped abit, but the sun'd gone in and so has my brain. I really don't get the hint about 19a. Hints for a couple may get me going. For example 1ac (I've got all three other long ones) and 6d. Most of my answers are in the lower half.

Off to get the washing in which may shift my brain a little. My first one in was 12ac, though only lightly in pencil as I can't see the parsing, so it may be wrong. I do have trouble with Picaroon.

After going out all day probably three quarters finished I'm back and filled in the last few. Not Picaroon's finest. Still struggling to parse 11a and some of the clues were similar. Quite hard work.

COD 19a for me in particular because I never knew that particular fact about a sonnet before.

Roof.

1a think of a word that means a light and may also have relevance to a fixture.

Hi Roof
6d the "bay" is a plant rather than a geographical feature!

Thanks Chrise. I really don't think I'd have ever seen that.

Hi Rocky

What fact about a sonnet?. I remember doing them in English at school - four quatrains then a couplet. I've tried googling but can't spot anything else.

I'm off to think about "bay" plants.
