Well, after a few recent toughies, that was an agreeably gentle solve with a pretty picture as reward for one's trouble.

Lovely puzzle Hedge-Sparrow, thank you.
Couple of Guinnesses to celebrate.

My thanks, too, Hedge-sparrow. I think I visited every elephant trap on the way to completion but enjoyed the cleverness of the detours as much as the elegance of the journey.

A very cleverly constructed grid. Given that I'd finished by 10pm, having anyway been out for two hours, perhaps the clues were a tad too easy, but woe on me for complaining!
Be careful what you wish for.

The red herring of the stirred large regal lager held me up for a while. What a splendid feat of construction, HS - congratulations.

I have completed everything but am now concerned about the red herring cockie refers to. I have to admit that my eight straight lines are an intuitive guess as I do not understand the relevance of the connecting cells. A pleasant enough solve without having to endure a protracted bout of grid staring - nice one Hedge-sparrow.

Have a look at the letters at each end of your lines and see if anything thematic leaps out…

I did that - so methinks I have to think again - or I have something wrong.

I can now calm down and move onto the "I" - my lines were too long!!
