"It's unusual, it seems to me, to have a theme which applies to every single clue, either in the clue or in the solution, or both."

Micky, I alluded to this in the opening post. It is unusual, but Brendan has done it before with Prize puzzles. One time fairly recently, and I think, but am not certain, that there was an earlier instance.

If I’m not mistaken, Everyman’s last Christmas offering also achieved this

Hi everyone

Started after lunch (twoish) as usual with some trepidation seeing it was Brendan and was amazed at how many I filled in on first read through starting with 5ac as first clue. I've finished but am not sure about the parsing for one or two and like many above questioned the definition for 24ac. I was also on the wrong track with the beagle. I didn't know 23ac was a beagle. I didn't know what "Pugs" were a slang term for and what "run in packs" had to do with anything. I've just worked that one out.

Parsing problems:
11ac, 3d, and 5d

FOI 5ac, LOI 20d. COD16d, 8d and too many to mention.

I asked my husband about the last one as I assume it is a reference to cricket, but he wasn't sure.

I wish we had more crosswords as easy as this. I can go away and nurse my cold and catch up with TV on iPlayer.

hi, roof. 11ac and 5d are double def. Remember the theme. 3d is tricky. A 3,3 meaning at a cost with a letter in between for European, all followed by a letter for time.

Thanks MPFS

I'm happy with 5d I think, but less sure about my answer to 11ac. I've checked for similies and have changed my answer accordingly, remembering the theme.

I really enjoyed this and how clever of Brendan to be able to theme every clue.
My COD was 23a because I just love that dog!
