seems clear one has to take three letters out of the 16 solutions - in each case I have 2 the same and the first one different. These don't seem to be "clashes" though - and the instructions seem to suggest replacing them with a single letter ...

At each juncture six are the same and two differ.

Not the same single letter each time but 3 pairs.

Rather than thinking of removing 3 letters, try replacing 4 letters with 1. And look carefully at what 4 sequential letters in all of the modifies clues have in common.

Thanks, drxx and BB. The penny didn't drop until I wrote out a list of all the 4-letter sections that needed to be modified.

Good fun and cleverly constructed I thought. But has anyone submitted the online form? It won’t accept the thematic word… “wrong format”!

Seems that the text box for the theme word is formatted to only accept an email address rather than text.

Contacted them yesterday and they altered the formatting - works now
