Hi Smot,
19a. Three letter word for crow (the bird, or one like it), then a five letter word for a ‘lazy sort’ minus the first letter
17a. double definition. Honey and boxer both used as examples

What part does "in the auditorium" play in the 18d clue?
Seems superfluous to me.

Hi there, isn't it just an indication of a 'sounds-like' type of clue?

Thanks Charlock. I guess honey explains it. I wrote in the answer that you are signalling but couldn't see the parsing until I read your post. Thanks.

Hi all. If anyone's there . . .
Bit late to this week's Everyman.
Despite the hints, can't get 17a, 11d or 18d

17a seems to be a hybrid double definition / &lit. "Honey" or an example of something "one may give to boxer [dog]."

11d: defn. "Means of making people believe", parses as 3 ("lingerie") + (2,7) ("not ready to wear"), Funny clue!

18d: Homophone ("in the auditorium"). Defn. "spectacles etc.", parses as 3, 4 ("Everyman becomes tedious"). Also funny IMO.

Thanks, Geeker. You helped me get 17. I did have the PDMs for the other two yesterday. I agree - v entertaining clues, esp 11

Enjoyed this, 17a took me ages then made me smile and groan.
Still tormented by the parsing of 11d though - how does "lingerie relate to the first part of the answer?
