It took me a while to understand what "the relevantly numbered clues" meant, but once the PDM came so did the three word phrase. A really enjoyable crossword that took a while to get into, but was well worth it.

I'm struggling to get past the grid-fill, although I am doubtful about a couple of the names (ie singular forename or plural surname in two cases). Doubtless when the penny had dropped that will be cleared up. I have a feeling I may be looking for a type of offspring (or is that giving too much away?).

You're not looking for an offspring.

Curious, as 4 of the 7 names had a different number of daughters. Back to the drawing board ... unless the tiniest of hints might be offered?

An enjoyable puzzle, but the parsing of 12a ('Elliott's left behind his friend, hidden in extremely tall grass') eludes me. Please could someone assist me with that ?

Elliot’s left (letter) is E, his friend was ET, the extra-terrestrial, and extremely is “too”, so you should be able to piece it together
