A little trickier than last week I thought. It certainly helped to recognise this grid and know the ‘pattern’ that Everyman uses it for. Wonder if there may be an alternative spelling that would fit 18d? 17d is quite fun but I dare say it’s been done before.

Morning Jono! After my first run through, I thought this was way trickier than last week, but finished quite quickly. I liked 17, but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen something similar before. I really enjoyed 25, made me laugh out loud.
Thanks Everyman.

I’m still trying to think what the alternative spelling might be for 18, maybe I haven’t finished yet!

I was thinking the second letter could be an A. Chambers shows this word as having the same meaning but notes it as “esp N American”

Ah, I see now. It could be I suppose.
Another thing: what’s the ‘pattern’ that you referred to?

I liked 20a. I have seen a shorter version of 17d with 5 letters.

Alliteration in the long clues… the top and bottom rows and the middle column. Everyman has done this quite a few times in the last couple of years and always with this (or very similar) grids

Morning, all. A crossword of two halves for me. Bottom was harder. Still can’t see 19 & 21 - any hints? And can’t parse 11A.
Thanks
