Commiserations, Mattrom. Your clue was excellent, hence it got my vote.

What can I say, Buddy, thanks for hosting, and for choosing my clue in the tie-break. Very pleased. I'm hono(u)red that you chose spike as the word to be clued, a fun challenge! So many synonyms it made my head swim, I couldn't keep up with all the thoughts going on in my mind.

Excellent prizes: Spike Milligan, well....is Spike Milligan! I'm a fan of Peanuts, and have used several clips in the past. I'm also a fan of Elvis Costello, and happen to have the album Spike.

I've been going through a terrible patch with PR/WPR of late, so hope this will mark a turning point in that regard.Thanks to all of you who voted for me, and for the mentions, (didn't like #32, Tyke?) I'm most appreciative.
