It looks like Heron (a bird). Female could be ‘Her’, but I don’t really see how the clue fits.

On means about, concerning, and it’s “stalking” I.e following her, I.e female, to give the bird

I can see arguments for both UDDER and UNDER but am not completely convinced by either!

Thank you Jono, I'd been struggling to incorporate the 'unclothed' part of the clue but that sounds right. Had also been distracted by the thought that an UDDER is part of a LOWER (ie an animal that lows!)

4d Cheer for female act in show of boldness (7)

Bravado? Can't parse it. If 'female act' = ava do, does Br somehow = cheer for?

Cheer for female = brava
