I can see two possibilities for 34 D by reversing the unchecked letters. Any thoughts please or should both be accepted?

always puzzled - your guess is as good as mine. I can also see two possibilities for 46 A, swapping the first and last letters. That's a problem with a collection of unclueds which aren't semantically connected to each other.

Hi both
Quite tricky. Sounds like you have the "mispronounced praise" correct, but items connected with the correct spelling of the second word require thinking along the right line(s). No ambiguity after that.

Surely there is ambiguity because the two possible entries for 46 across and the two for 34 down when anagrammed with 47 across and 34 down respectively yield the same thematic results.

Alwayspuzzled.
Apologies yes you are right - misconstrued what you were saying. There are indeed two possible entries where you indicate, each of which leads to the same thematic solution. I guess that they have to allow either with no further indication.

I am completely stumped!
I've completed the clued lights and I think I've got the "praise"; I've also got a (London) place name.
But what on earth is the connection with the title?
I've tried (too many) combinations and get nothing sensible.

Great, daviipde. It's always more satisfying to twig it yourself rather than hearing it from others!

I struggled but also enjoyed this puzzle.
It took me a few days to complete and 'twig' the connection and it didn't help that I had put a nickname for Rodney in 26a before correcting it !
As others have noted, there are options for a couple of unclued entries, but, when anagrammed, both arrive at the required answer.
Thanks Pabulum
