Agreed. Of course to compliment things for myself I started to look at the appropriately numbered down clue to begin with and wondered why I was getting nowhere fast.

That should read 'complicate' not 'compliment'.

I agree. Lovely puzzle as Gaston's always are. I didn't see the theme until the grid was almost full, and got it from the 2 unclued across names.

I've figured the title and am pretty sure I know where it goes, got the 4 characters and the top line, but am completely stumped by the bottom line. Must confess that it is several decades since I read the book and I have all but forgotten it.
Perhaps someone could tell me if I have gone wrong on the bottom line and I can keep trying to remember/puzzle it out.

No, fred, your letters are correct. Remember, there are four words, so they're all short. The first one is the exact opposite of the short one in the top row...

Cloverjo, they are there - you just have to go back a bit, past all the more recent puzzles. I think it's page 2.
