Thanks to all who entered this week’s Clueless. It has been a hard one to judge, but here goes.
I was surprised no one went with the “escape through a hedge” definition. Oh well, I‘ve made up for that in the clips.
Very much liked museum, mouse and emu inspired entries from Mprs, Buddy, Mattrom, Dorrien and Chris.
Pleased that Euterpe and Urania got mentions and that Geeker saw ‘ombudsmen’ which I had noted as a possibility.
Inclusions from Tyke and Buddy and acrostics from Tyke, SS and Prof were all great, as was Prof’s reverse sum. Paul’s Victoria was very funny as was Spike’s amuse bouche.
I also liked SimpleSimon’s technical construction @24 for which I was pleased to see the full parse, a real head scratcher otherwise.
I had also hoped for the US inside ME construction which Buddy and Prof both delivered with consummate style right at the end.
However, as a favourite, I’ve picked Buddy@23. A reverse hidden down clue with an &lit-ish quality which I think captures the essence of the word.
Can she summon up reserves of creativity? (4)
Well, yes, I think we can safely say she can.
Congratulations Buddy, here are your prizes…
