It looks as though I am the only one struggling with this - nothing new there! I have the theme and all but three answers ( a couple of those I have could well be wrong) and I can't find the clue which yields the sixth item in the thematic list, My main problem is fitting the answers into the grid. In the second row I have 6 letter word followed by two blank cells followed by a 5 letter word but that can't be right as it would leave a blank cell under the sixth letter of the first across entry. A pointer in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Your 2nd row is right and the blank square in the middle is where a 10 letter down answer goes.

...and that should sort out your other problem if your last clue is the last one across.

I think this puzzle was a struggle all the way - a good one, though (great clues, a very fair preamble and a beautifully constructed grid).

Sorry, alwayspuzzled - that answer belongs across the way (beginning with ''Teacher...'').

Brilliant puzzle. All done but CAN'T parse my answer to the 4 letter word beginning with Z on LHS of bottom line across. Large shove appreciated!

A 2 letter musical abbrev (for the first word) to begin with has its 's' as extra, + the ends of...

sorry, its 'f' is extra (no 's').

...and it's only 1 last letter - the other 2 are left when 'as' (for 'so far') is removed from another word.
