Thanks to all who entered this week’s challenge, I enjoyed them all. SimpleSimon was on the right track in suggesting that the word choice was to some degree inspired by the always entertaining exploits of Jigjag and others over on the PU thread.
Tasty anagrams from Buddy@3 and 10, SS@7 (bran flakes was a good spot), Paul@12/13 and I liked Fiery@17’s fresh teal.
Also liked Tyke@4’s cryptic three lions and Mattrom@5’s English vacation (I might have plumped for Bognor Regis), Dorrien@9 and Mprs@20’s ‘not Continental’.
In the end I had Bbm@15 (baked beans was a nice touch), Fiery@18 (‘race’ is well disguised) and Paul@21 (liked the construction and use of ‘beak’) in podium positions.
However, the winner is Mattrom@11 with several component parts combining cleverly into an automotive surface. ‘Largish type’ for English (had to scratch my head for that one!) and ‘break’ for estate car (though I’ve always seen it spelt brake as in shooting brake but Chambers has both) coupled with a well crafted definition “fuel injection styled in the UK?” which seems pretty accurate.
Largish type estate car, with rapid fuel injection, styled in the UK? (7,9)
Congratulations Mattrom, here are the prizes…
