I'm having trouble parsing this clue ...

29a - Doctor being superior wears elaborate clothing (9, 2 words)

There might be an extra letter or word in the clue to be removed before solving.

I've got a 2 letter "doctor" + 4 letter "being" + 2 letter "superior" with the definition as "wears elaborate clothing" but that leave the 3rd from last letter unparsed?

superior is 3 letters; look up the last 3 letters of the answer in chambers

Hi Malone, I think when dealing with my queries it's best to assume I've missed the blindingly obvious, so yes - "check Chambers" would be good advice 😂

Thanks, Brendan. I am maybe msiremembering, but perhaps you sometimes didn't see come definitions on the Chambers app? I don't think it was always a case of you not reading the book!

Okay, everything done and dusted except for the wordplay here ..

28a - Drinks pi(n)ts leaving street (4)

My answer is an informal word for "drinks" so I've been looking for a word for "street" minus a word for "pits" but am coming up blank?

Cancel that, I had it back to front!
