Hi Chrise
I was watching television, but managed to get a few more clues. I worked out the Borough was from NY, but have failed to get the first three letters, despite your hint.

I got all the north east corner, though have failed to parse 5ac and 11ac. I've still have to get 21d, 24 ac and am not sure about 20d. I can't get 22d without mis spelling 26ac.

I'm off to bed now and will look at it again tomorrow and talk to my friend in Sheffield. Thanks for your help. I think I've done quite well considering how and when I started.

No idea on my last two, 11A and 6D. I assume that 11A is themed and I think I have the first word (a planet?) but I don’t recall it linked to a second. And my mind is blank on frog artist. Help!

11a is not themed, you’re looking for the name of an Olympian. You have the correct interpretation of ‘bar’ though. 6d is an American artist and how you might describe a frog

I found this a very difficult puzzle, and would never have done it without help from this forum. In fact I managed only six clues before I gave in and looked here, which is an astonishingly poor performance. When I eventually got 16 it helped, but not very much because I don't go in for 16 or 16's cousins. FOI 23a. LOI 10a, despite the fact that I thought of the correct answer right at the beginning, before any other clue, but couldn't see why. That is bizarre, because now I see it as a really easy clue, totally obvious. I spent a lot of time wondering whether the solution to 11a was an olympian or one of the second theme (not 16). When I finally got the answer, it amused me that I had been so misdirected by thinking it had to be one or the other.

I also got stuck on the wrong meaning of "Olympian" for a very long time.
