Had a brain break and now finished. I agree with whoever said it was like last week's but I think more enjoyable personally. Still some slightly weird parsing. Still don't get parsing for 25a or 10a.

COD 26a albeit you could see it coming.

25 is a homophone clue. it's not entirely clear which to enter, though the second is more probable.

Hi everyone

Just joined the forum and read through all the threads, which helped me get one or two. I'd hoped it was going to be easier this week after getting 12ac, which was the same answer to the same clue in today's quick crossword, which I always do first as a warm-up. I also thought it might be an advantage to have read Dombey & Son, but so far nothing has clicked. I've done more than half (mainly lower), though finding the parsing difficult, e.g 11ac. Many thanks for the clue for 13d. It helped me get 23ac as as I had thw wrong second word, not that I can parse this one. I'm off to try again bearing in mind the hints. I'll be back!

But a hint for 14ac might help.

Not sure about parsing of 24a. Three letter 'tear' plus mystery one letter?

24a - The "???? demand" is sent to the "letter" (nothing to do with the alphabet) and it's also a 4 letter word meaning "tear" as in 'rip' but not widely used ....except in crosswords:-)

Re 24a there’s a word which means letter that fits there (which is where Minno gets three letters for tear from). Seems like a missed opportunity?

Should 4d from last week have been in this week's puzzle? Just a thought :-)

I understand your hint, but am no further forward. Perhaps what I really need is a hint for 5d. I haven't got 6d or 7d either, though I think I have the second word for 6d. I've also been beaten by 9ac. I've googled Screwtape letters and I've investigated other options like an anagram of tapeic, but no PDM moment yet.
