I'm not sure how the clue works exactly, but I think it's Magma, that goes downhill (afrer a vocanic eruption). Lavatory is WC,, drop the Tory, one of Boris;'s lot.I think Aga is a military commander, but... I don't know what 'Trump's lot' refers to.

“Trump’s lot” is MAGA. Military leader is first letter, ie M.

Thanks, Jono, that sounds good - but it's an overly complicated clue, I feel! Maybe the magazine, newspaper, is like the RTE, 'quirky'?
