Granama1, one of the words has a normal word within its pairs, indicating a line in the grid. The other has no pairs, but refers cryptically to something scattered in the grid

Thanks Quisling. I'll have a refreshed look at the words. Sometimes it's difficult to hop off a particular train of thought.

...and done. I did think that the location wasn't exactly 'precise'!

I was also temporarily deflected by column 1 which looked like 3/5ths of a rather budget present for food storage. Possibly to prevent the other part of the column. šŸ˜„

Lovely ideas, nice grid.
But oh the second paragraph of the preamble needs a complete rewrite! Let us enjoy the fun, please!

Hi Jogamel - The letter before the slash should be written to the left column, in which that word occurs, and likewise, the letter after the slash, at the top of the column in which it occurs.

Then, by dividing the first two surplus solutions into sequential pairs, you can get grid references, allowing you to identify the venue and time! LOL

I have also found half of the present, by cyptically finding kisses in the grid, but I cannot yet, and hopefully before I am certified insane, deduce the other half of the present from the fourth surplus word.

Jesus wept, any help appreciated!

Slugabed, Iā€™m not sure I follow. Two of the four words define the venue, and one each the time and the present.

Apologies Jogamel and all, for some strange reason the posts have appeared in reverse order on my phone, so I belived , wrongly, that your post was the last and most recent post! I hate my Samsung!
