The extra spaces seem to be caused by the site.

Tougher than usual, at first glance seemed impossible, but I luckily got the theme fairly quickly, which helped.

The spaces seem to be an artifact of advertisements being placed into posts. I use an adblocker, which apparently makes the ad sites appear as blank space. I first noticed the phenomenon last weekend.
