This is a competition puzzle and I’d like to submit a clue. However one answer eludes me however much I stare at it.

I have three of the four letters but the third eludes me. Any help most welcome. Thanks

What letters do you have?

Take the usual 'born' (masculine version, originally French) from a gangster. You'll be left with a boss, similar to...

...and they called him Al
