Last two and have spent more time failing to solve them than the time spend solving the rest. Grr.

27a Hunt has Queen in stew. ?e?r?? Search fits and Queen could be r rather than er but seach doesn't appear to be a stew.

20d Wanting risk , judge intervenes. ?e?e??.

Last letter is the same.

I would be grateful if you could please explain your thought process that lead you to the answers.

FERRET - ER in FRET

BEREFT = REF in BET

20 BEREFT?
REF (judge) in BET (risk)
