Well I finished, but I hated it - a waste of several hours of my life. I wonder why writers bother to write this sort of self-indulgent tosh. Compare Kazuo Ishiguro's "The buried giant", or Kate Atkinson's "A god in ruins".

Oh that’s a shame, Chris, I’ll give it a miss in that case.

Thanks for recommendations, perhaps forum members would like to add others…

The other two weren't recommendations! They are books with the same sort of irritating construction.

ChrisE, when I saw the book mentioned on the earlier thread, I resisted the temptation to say 'don't bother, it's a load of nonsense'. I was very disappointed. I'd enjoyed, after a fashion, the earlier book by the author.

I wish you hadn't resisted, malone :)
Quiz question: what do the three books I mentioned have in common?

I felt obliged to resist, ChrisE, especially as over the years I have disagreed (mostly silently) about the stunning/wondeful/terrific thematic crosswords that other Forum members have regarded as treats.

I seldom do quizzes - of any kind - so spent only 10 seconds on your book question... I have no idea!
