If only I could send you some rain, Jazzgirl, but I'm in Shropshire and it's too far from Surrey. It decidedly cooler today too.

Norah, at 14.00.

Thank you for reaching out to us. I think the majoirty of Forum members will be happy to see some chatty threads . You might need to keep an eye on us all make sure we navigate our way through safely - I'd hate to degenerate any more than is necessary.

Thanks for mentioning the comma thread title convention. I'd never noticed it. 🤣
Even though I've probably started Everyman threads that had the comma removed...

Haha, Geeker, yes, on the very rare occasions that neither you nor Brendan start the Everyman thread in the early hours, and I wake up and do so, I always omit the comma in the knowledge that Norah will appreciate it. It’s such a tiny detail! 😂

Jono, further information on the month search. It doesn't work for me either, and I am on a Mac desktop. Suspect it is the Safari browser that is not compatible with the search feature.

It is not common that someone would need to search old posts, but all they need to do is search in google eg

crosswordsolver.org + July 2014

The purpose of this thread, however, is to ask us what we think about introducing chatty threads again.

Suggested improvement: when clicking 'Reply to this post' you can see the original post above your reply box, but it's not included when you post your reply, so others cannot see to which post you are replying.

The English Chess Forum has the option of simply posting a new comment in a thread without it being a reply, or, by first clicking on a " sign, to make the 'replied to' post visible above your own post. The original post can be edited so you can choose to show just the relevant bit.

Not sure how easy this would be to set up.

I should add to my #39 that a quoted post appears in a box which easily distinguishes it from your own reply. It also begins 'malone (or whoever) wrote'.
