Thanks to Crucible for this week's Prize. I enjoyed it, high level of cluing, solid Prize entry but not the very highest level of Prize inspiration IMO. Near median level of difficulty, perhaps slightly easy, though several clues required considerable thought to parse.
One long anagram in both across and down, which might help get started.
FOI 4, LOI 22.
I lack the GK for 6 and 22, but got the former from crossers and the latter from parsing.
Co-COD 5, 7, 20 and 3, can't choose between them. 1d has a tricky misdirect that took a while to figure out. About eight more clues (omitted) on the long list.

If there's a theme, I missed it...9 and 15 share an element, as do 14 a/d and arguably (9, 16 and 19), but seemingly not sufficient for theme(s). The grid looks favorable for Ninas, but nothing there either.

nearly done, but i'm stuck in the sw. i have no ideas for the 22s. hints please?

also i can't parse what must be the answer for 7d

"character in arena" seems superfluous in 14a

Google to the rescue on 22d - never heard of her!

I started this at about 7am. Have to say I only have a handful of clues solved. I'm struggling a bit to establish what the definition is in a lot of the clues. Both 14s are baffling me just now and I feel I need to get past them to move on.

hi rocky
14d is an anagram. both 14s have similar meanings. see my earlier comment about 14a.

All done apart from 22d. A nudge would be most welcome please.

Hi simond9x
"work" is the definition. Add a letter to a likely answer, then Google (as I did!)

Hi Chris. Thanks, all done now. I'd assumed the answer would be the novelist. Now back to The Listener.
