Thank you for those hints Malone. I think I now I have one of the words to be highlighted (a 6 across letter answer affected by the changes?) so I now need to find the 7 letter one.

Still struggling to see the 7 letter word which needs highlighting. I suspect I have a mistake (or mistakes) somewhere. I am just about to return to it.

Finally got it after much grid staring. Mu usual word search blind spot was letting me down yet again.

Alwayspuzzled, glad you got there in the end - I expect your sigh of relief could be heard many miles away!

Thanks again Malone. It wasn't only the sigh of relief but the sound of me kicking myself which could be heard for many miles. Fingers crossed the hay fever will ease enough for me to concentrate properly on crosswords when I get back from an extended weekend break.
