2d City trumpeter, perhaps, given great deal (7). The answer looks like Swansea but, if so, I can't parse this?

10 Across - "Spinach is to fall in value" (S-G). I can only think of SAG for this one, but where does "spinach" come into the reckoning?

Sag is spinach, in Indian cuisine (sag aloo, spinach and potatoes - both appear in crosswords).
