Back early from bowling and we won handsomely!

Thank you all for your patience after the forum glitch, which has led to a reduced submission regrettably. But still, a fine collection of responses, as to be expected from such an erudite bunch.
In joint third place, with 6 votes apiece, we have Culmer@23 with his wonderful labradoodle clue and Mattrom @8 with his clever nod to Judas.
In second place, with 10 votes, we have Buddy@4 with his simple, but elegant, double definition, which must have stimulated Paul with his further double definitions based on Ford.
In first place, with a magnificent 11 votes, it’s Buddy again @17
with an easy, flowing surface, with no unnecessary contrivances. Well done Buddy.
