Thanks to everyone who contributed to this week's Clueless. I chose a word with few obvious, but also (to me) some little- known definitions. The latter popped up in clues from SS 11, buddy 13, jono 17&20.
Some well-known names made an appearance with references to Gershwin, Glenn Miller, Tarzan, Ruth Ellis, Sinatra, Walesa and Stravinsky.
Touches I liked were; buddy's 'big lie', aristo's 'prominent member', penda's 'flapper', dorrien's 'strange fruit', SS's 'right whopper', mprs 'Nigerian monkey', FJ's 'Wren and GI's', and jimmy's 'Stravinsky's Firebird'.
My final list included; buddy 3, 7&13, FJ 4, paul 8 (though withdrawn), jono 17&20, patrich 19.
I'm going with buddy's succinct subtractive anagram #3, for this week's winner
