Many thanks to the SS team for a good challenge and adjudication. Pleased to be in the top three in such esteemed company. Nice clue Mattrom, congrats! I really wanted those dogs to get to the end of that conveyor belt though!

Buddy, noted, thank you. Still a nice clue. We’ve got 2 x BRBs ( well thumbed), and the Chamber’s app on 2 x IPads. Not got the Thesaurus - still use an old Roget. - will obviously need to upgrade.

Very nice Mattrom - I liked your `Ascot` clue even more! Thanks for hosting SS.

SS if you have the Chambers app then definitely do get the Thesaurus extension as you can seamlessly switch between words in the dictionary and thesaurus, and search across both. Chambers tell me their 14th edition is due out “this year”

Thanks Jono, sounds like a must-have. Even got pages missing from poor old Roget - it’s done sterling service mind you.
Great clues, so hard to choose, must be like judging Miss
World, although that’s not PC nowadays.

Thank you, Chris and Sue - quite an honour with so many excellent entries. Does having two heads make it easier or harder to make a decision? Thanks also for the detailed summation, it may be a hard act to follow :)

Congrats to the well-deserved winner!
I’ve learned my lesson to include explanatory notes. For @18 “Learn from this … “ alluded to another defn of ‘course’:
“A prescribed series, sequence, process or treatment, eg of lectures, training, education, pills, etc”

UseBy. Saw what you intended.

“ Lessons from this brick layer” would have been fine.

Keep clueing
