Full grid, thought i knew what N was based on the letters in extra clues (although i have the extra words im struggling anyhting better than tenuous to get to a synonym and from there N).

However the requirement in brackets seems to set a minimum for N, which i dont meet!

Glad to hear that AndyP, then perhaps you might help me... I too have a full grid and know N, and how it flows, separately, both from the 7 superfluous words' synonyms, and from the extra letters in other clues. I also know the Biblical reference and much of where it is in the grid.
I can even see how it's begining to look as if it might be wanting form an appropriate shape in the grid. But for all that, I can neither finish that highlighting, nor for the life of me seehow I get the Biblical reference to amount to N cells?

If you can help me resolve those questions, I may be able to offer you some parsing in return - I think I have all that though of course having said so, I'm inevitably going to find I lack the essential bit you ask for...

The Biblical reference is seven words, Nansen. All are spelt out in full except the third, which is a four-letter abbreviation

To be strictly accurate, the last two words are one word hyphenated (in Chambers))

Ah!!!! So what you mean, if it isn't a spoiler (and I suppose a moderator will delete if it's deemed to be), is that I literally need chapter and verse!

I've got N but buggered if I can find a biblical reference. May I confirm that the synonym forms part of the title of a novel by an early 20th century writer of gung-ho goings on?
