Things are getting a bit excited on the Answer Bank so I thought I'd try here for the answer to 31d Dubliner's heart set on pin-up (6) ?I?I?N
Answer appreciated.

I thought Lilian might be a character in "Dubliners", but she doesn't seem to be. How does a clue without a definition work?

I reckon it's one of the 'eight clued without thematic definition' referred to in Doc's preface to the crossword

Thanks Farr - as I said, I never look at this puzzle.

Farr's post #1 prompted me to have a look at the Answerbank thread.

It reinforced my decision some time ago to give it a wide berth. Having said that I can understand the frustration. Asking for help to the odd solution to wrap up a puzzle is fine by me. However there would appear to be an Answerbank user who asks for the direct solution to virtually every clue every week. Then has the nerve to submit for the chance a pretty tasty prize. Just not on in my book.

In addition Bobbycollins that same AB user very often gives completely the wrong letters in what he/she already has.
