Thank you everybody for your excellent efforts, which I enjoyed immensely. There were some very worthy vote catchers, as follows: 1 vote each for jono @24, mattrom @31 and buddy @12; bronze medallist with 2 votes was fieryjack @18; and silver medallist with 3 votes was mattrom @10. The winner, however, with 4 votes, was jono’s clever offering @4 (thanks in part to mattrom’s deciding vote). Jono identified a rare opportunity to use the word ‘cryptic’ in anagrammatic form. The surface is delightfully appropriate for all of us who wrestle with that type of crossword every week.
